The Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at GIMS is an intensive 4-year undergraduate professional degree program designed to provide students with comprehensive scientific knowledge and practical expertise in microbial biology, including bacteriology, virology, mycology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics. As clinical, pharmaceutical, and environmental challenges grow, this program bridges biological sciences, biochemistry, and lab technology to train experts who can work in healthcare diagnostics, disease control, quality management, and biotech research.
Our curriculum covers core medical microbiology, immunology, soil/environmental microbiology, and enzymology alongside practical laboratory training in medical microbiology techniques, good laboratory practices (GLP), and diagnostics. Backed by state-of-the-art laboratory environments and a dedicated Research Project or Internship in the 8th semester, GIMS graduates are fully prepared to excel as microbiologists, clinical laboratory specialists, pharmaceutical quality analysts, and research associates.
Access specialized medical microbiology and cell culture facilities.
Complete a dedicated project or clinical internship in your eighth semester.
Master international biosafety levels and risk management procedures.
Study the genetic patterns and drug resistance of bacteria and viruses.
Match with recruitment agencies in health, pharmacy, and agriculture.
Work alongside experienced microbiologists and clinical lab experts.
Isolate and identify disease-causing microbes in diagnostic centers.
Perform sterility testing and quality checks on medicines.
Test soil, water, and sewage samples for biological contaminants.
Assess cell structures and run automated screening assays.
Develop vaccine vectors and compile gene editing sequences.
Design biological safety protocols and supervise waste sterilization.
Teach general and clinical microbiology in colleges and universities.
Investigate infectious outbreaks and manage community health files.
