The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (BS MLT) at GIMS is an intensive 4-year undergraduate professional degree program designed to produce qualified medical laboratory technologists and scientists. Medical technologists form the backbone of modern healthcare systems, providing diagnostic support to clinicians through highly precise clinical laboratory tests.
Integrating biological sciences, pathology, biochemistry, hematology, immunology, and transfusion medicine, the curriculum covers both theoretical study and hands-on clinical rotations. Students study clinical pathology, bacteriology, molecular diagnostics, bioethics, and blood banking, culminating in clinical rotations (in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, and Histopathology) and a final-year Research Project/Internship. Graduates are fully prepared to operate state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, ensure laboratory quality control, and work in medical laboratories, research institutes, public health organizations, and pharmaceutical firms.
Train across hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and histology lines.
Master blood extraction and patient sampling techniques in live mock runs.
Utilize automatic blood chemistry analyzers and diagnostic tools.
Study the underlying mechanisms of viral, bacterial, and parasitic diseases.
Cover international laboratory safety and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) rules.
Connect with leading hospitals, research labs, and diagnostic networks.
Perform diagnostic blood, fluid, and tissue analysis in hospitals.
Support pathologists in specimen examination and histopathology screening.
Ensure diagnostic precision and compliance with laboratory ISO codes.
Supervise blood screening, cross-matching, and donor logistics.
Conduct molecular and genetics trials in research centers.
Manage business relationships and sell high-end lab machinery.
Supervise laboratory operations, budgets, and staff training.
Track epidemic patterns and foodborne illness outbreaks in communities.
Original semester-by-semester plan — applicable to students admitted before 2026 intake.
