Dear admission seeker, below are some of the questions asked most frequently by our visitors along with their answers. Is Gujrat Institute of Management Sciences (GIMS) a private or government institution?
GIMS is Affiliated with Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) which is a Government University. PMAS-AAUR was established by the Government of Punjab in 1994 to provide extremely affordable but high quality education to aspiring students all over the country with much less fees than the private institutions.
Is GIMS an approved campus of PMAS-AAUR?
Yes GIMS has all the necessary approvals from relevant authorities of the PMAS-AAUR. This can be verified by visiting the university website at www.uaar.edu.pk
Will the degree be awarded by PMAS-AAUR?
Yes. Moreover, the awarded degree will be similar (in all respects) with the one awarded to a graduate from the main campus at Rawalpindi.
Is the degree from PMAS-AAUR recognized?
Yes. PMAS-AAUR is a high ranking university duly recognized by HEC and other relevant national and international forums; therefore, its degree is highly respected and recognized.
If I take admission at GIMS-PMAS-AAUR, when will I get my Reg. No.?
As soon as the admissions are completed the data of all the admitted students will be provided to the university and students will be issued their registration numbers before the mid-term examinations of the first semester.
Dose GIMS follow semester or annual system?
All the degrees offered at GIMS follow semester system with academic calendar exactly same as the one observed at the main campus.
How many semesters are there in an academic year?
Normally there are three semesters in an academic year (1) Fall Semester that runs from beginning of October till the middle of February (2) a short (8-weeks long) Summer Semester that has limited courses offered and runs from August to September and (3) Spring Semester that runs from beginning of March till the middle of July.
How often it happens that the start/end of a semester, examinations or announcement of results is delayed at the university?
The university is very particular about observing its academic calendar and every possible effort is made to avoid delays in any of the key activities. In the past several years none of these activities have suffered any delays.
Who will conduct examinations of the students of GIMS?
Your examinations will be conducted at GIMS by GIMS under guidance from the university that has its own elaborate mechanism to monitor and ensure the quality of examinations.
Is there any aptitude test required for admission at GIMS?
For admission in Bachelors or Masters degrees there is no aptitude test the admissions in these degrees are granted entirely on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the last degree/certificate.
Do you have hostel facilities for the students from outside Gujrat?
At the moment we do not have a hostel of our own but we will certainly extend all the possible help in arranging rented accommodation for our students. Depending on the demand we may also arrange a hostel of our own in future.
Will GIMS provide transport for the students?
We will arrange transport on the routes that have adequate number of students.
Do you have any scholarships for needy and deserving students?
Limited number of scholarships is available on the basis of need & merit. In addition, we have no objection if a student avails a scholarship at his/her own from any other organization like employer of a parent or a welfare organization.
What are the eligibility criteria for taking admission at GIMS?
The eligibility criteria vary from degree to degree. You need to see our prospectus or consult a counselor to know exact eligibility for a degree of your interest.
Does GIMS accept transfer students?
Yes we do, however, acceptance of a student wanting to transfer from another institution to GIMS depends on the availability of seats and also on approval by the relevant authorities of the university. Therefore, any student desiring to transfer to GIMS should apply well in advance providing all the necessary documents allowing us enough time to process the case.
After getting admission at GIMS can I transfer to the main campus?
In general, this transfer is highly discouraged because the merit for admission at various campuses may be different. However, the relevant authorities at university may consider genuine requests on case-to-case basis depending on availability of seats.
